The town of Ubud, in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia, is known as a center for traditional crafts and dance. The surrounding Ubud District’s rainforest and terraced rice paddies, dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most famous landscapes. Ancient holy sites include the intricately carved Goa Gajah (“Elephant Cave”) and Gunung Kawi, with its rock-cut shrines.

Pyramids of Chi

Bali Aquaponics is located at Pyramids of Chi near the traditional and charming Balinese village of Bentuyung, a verdant land between two rivers with its backdrop being magnificent vistas over the rice fields clear to the majestic volcano of Mt Agung.

It was in this location that the romantic film “Eat, Pray, Love” with Julia Roberts was made, such is its beautiful charm and magnificent rice field surroundings.

Your journey to the Pyramids of Chi will wind through picturesque rice fields and small time-honored Balinese hamlets, away from any industry or commercial centers.

Tony Raka

Blending art, design and lifestyle, the TONYRAKA Gallery and Art Lounge is an oasis of creativity. Enjoy the beautiful art while having a fusion of traditional Balinese and western food.

Try to meet Tony himself. An always smiling in a good mood architect, developer and business man with lot’s of wisdom. Tony is one of the reason why i visit this place at least twice per week.

Transportation

When traveling form Bali airport, also known as Ngurah Rai International Airport, to Ubud, you have two different transfer options, taxi or bus. Taking a Bali airport taxi is the only direct transfer option and is easily the most convenient. The journey shouldn’t take more than 40 minutes in normal traffic and should cost a set fee of 19.5€ (300,000 IDR). The cheaper way to get from Bali airport to Ubud is to take the public bus. This bus isn’t direct and has no set schedule. You will need to take the bus to Batu Bulan and then switch to a public van to travel into Ubud. The cost of the public bus is 3.46€ one-way and the journey will take around 100 minutes.

Accommodation

When it comes to accommodation in Ubud, there’s everything from beautiful guesthouses, cheap hostels and affordable hotels, to luxurious jungle retreats, spa hotels and honeymoon resorts. Time to reveal my top suggestions of where to stay in Ubud, Bali. Ubud is a town where you get a lot for your money! While there are a few larger hotels out of town (including luxury brands Viceroy and Four Seasons), the majority in the town centre are small guesthouses, villas and B&Bs and hostels. Many Ubud accommodation options have pools, great facilities and include breakfast. I think you’ll be surprised when you see there are SOOOO many Ubud hotels with with private pools – and they’re not at luxury prices. It really is an amazing place for value!
